whose style-name is Zaichuan, was born in Hsi-kang, Tainan County in 1941 and grew up in a farming family. After graduating from National Academy of Arts (present-day National Taiwan University of Arts), he studied under Chiang Chao-shen. His pure, elegant painting style avoids common fashion, and with vigorous brushwork, rubbing, and washes he depicts the distinctive scenery of Taiwan's rocky mountains, hills, vales, and flowing streams. Having made a thorough study of the properties of various kinds of paper, he adroitly applies this knowledge during the painting process. His skill in photography has also influenced his composi tions, which exhibit a vivid dynamism throughout and break through the former conventions in ink painting concerning the painting of landscapes, and so he has developed his current distinctive style. He has taught in the Fine Arts at Dept. of Taipei National University of the Arts, and his works have earned accolades from many circles. He has been awarded the Sun Yat-sen Literature Arts Award, the wu San-lien Literature and Arts Award, and the Chinese Literature and Arts Medal.

In March, exhidited works in “Florals-An Artist's World of Flowers” at the Moon Gallery in Taichung, Curator/Wu-Chi-Tao.
